Oracle 9i (9.2.0.1) unter Windows Server 2003 x64 Standard Edition

heute ging es um das Thema “Installation von Oracle 9i (9.2.01) unter Windows Server 2003 x64 Standard Edition. Im Oracle9i Database Platform Guide Release 2 (9.2) for Windows konnte man folgende Aussage finden:
Oracle9i release 2 (9.2.0.2) for 64-bit Windows supports 64-bit processing in the following operating systems:
- Windows XP 64-Bit Edition Version 2003
- Windows Server 2003
Laut dieser Aussage, kann die 64-bit Version der Oracle 9i Datenbank unter Windows Server 2003 installiert werden. Leider fehlt an dieser Stelle ein Hinweis, nämlich die Einschänkung, dass Oracle 9i (64-bit) nur auf Itanium Systemen mit Windows Server 2003 x64 installiert werden kann.

Wie man aus der Tabelle entnehmen kann, gibt es keine Kombination aus Oracle 9i 64-bit und Windows Server 2003 64-bit. Anhand dieser Tatsache kann man erkennen, dass eine Installation nicht möglich ist.
Wird der Installer auf einem Nicht-Itanium-System gestartet, bricht die Installation mit folgender Fehlermeldung ab:
